should have known better

than to expect certain people to take me into consideration. you know, it's funny. i fancy myself a pretty solid friend and yet some people are so self involved, it just doesn't matter. i don't buy people's affections, i don't go out of my way for any other reason than because I Want To. i have no ulterior motives, and i consider myself pretty genuine on almost all accounts. oddly enough, sometimes that just ISN'T enough. even after two years of friendship...or "friendship" i guess? i dunno anymore. i can honestly say though that i'm offended, insulted, and just overall hurt. i'm tired of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. i quit.

twenty-seven.

this number seems to be pretty prominent in my life. i just thought i'd mention that. so yesterday, mom and i did some bargain shopping. i.e. we went to Target and Wal-mart. i got inordinate amounts of cat food and other household-y things, and after searching for pieces of my birthday present that mom offered to get me to no avail, i went home and ordered them. my birthday present looks like this: yoga mat and yoga/pilates DVDs! the mat doesnt look anything like this, but yes. i got a yoga mat and some yoga blocks so i can finally do yoga at home and not trek or pay lots of money to do it. i'm stoked. i also got these boots from ae.com because i couldnt find any in any stores, lame. i rather like them, and hope they're just as great when i get them. last night we had a Night at the Square Table, as i've decided to dub the evenings my friends and i spend at the kitchen table hanging out with my parents. supposed to do brunch with meg and ian this morning, but ian was si...

so today was a brilliantly successful xmas day :) it all began with challah french toast (which i made with mommy!) and bagels with lox for breakfast, on authentic vintage art deco plates (dad's real proud of those). and buckets of coffee, as that is the Rosenthal way. after that we were all lazy for a few hours before we went to the local indie theatre with the rest of the jews to catch a flick. we chose to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button it was really good, i highly recommend you go see it. afterwards we went out for indian, a nice departure from the traditional chinese food most jews eat on xmas. second year in a row, i believe. and after dinner with the fam, i went over for the annual xmas day visit to shmemily's house to hang out and eat even more food. at one point i threw myself on the kitchen floor in an attempt to stretch out and digest. it didn't work so well, but about an hour and a half later i was definitely eating pie. ugh. megan and ian joined us, whi...

woke up early to go to the chiropractor this morning; a follow up visit to when i went in on monday. Dr. Barr, who's been treating my dad since FOR.EV.ER. also wanted me to get x-rays just so he could see what he was really dealing with. i guess to make sure that someone so young actually has a back problem and the pain isn't in my head. i mean, he did some adjustments and could initially FEEL that there was something out of whack, but i guess just to make sure. so, i got x-rays that day and brought them in today. TURNS OUT! i have arthritis in my back :D and a degenerative join disease! :D and slight scoliosis and my spine doesn't have enough curvature at the base and my right hip is tipped and rotated. COOL! yeah so basically my back pain is real, not imagined. go me. woot. now i'm really nervous about becoming one of those hunchbacked ladies. ugh. i need to go to the gym and strengthen my back or something... anyway, so i was with my mom and sister and we braved the...

ice dam[n] it!

Image
i thought a faucet was dripping in the bathroom...nope, that was the window. no big deal. we get really bad ice dams on our roof in the winter and, try as he might, my dad just cant keep up with them. thusly, a leaky window. ah well. today i plan on staying in bed for as long as i can. it is 11 degrees outside. i don't DO 11 degrees if i don't have to, thanks. here, lets look at some photos. so this was the view outside my bedroom window on sunday. holy blizzard. the backyard, after said blizzard. this is the end result of that omlette i made yesterday. provolone, swiss, olives, and garden salsa. effing delicious. there are currently four cats littering my parents' house: my two gatos, siren and lo, and my parents' cats, nala and milo. i just wanted to mention the abundance of felines as a disclaimer before i post the next two photos with cats in them...this doesn't excuse the fact that i'm totally a cat lady. have you tried to sleep in a twin bed with three cat...

so it begins.

so i had this idea to start a blog on january first 2009, and do this 365 day photo-a-day project. BUT, i'm currently sitting at my parents' house in the glorious town of delmar, a suburb or albany new york, and i'm bored. i figured, now is as good a time as any to get started. i'll consider it a warm up for when the real hardcore blogging begins in the new year. i havent yet decided of all my photos for this project will be ones i have taken, or just excellent images i come across. probably a mix of both, but i'd like to challenge myself to take at least one decent picture every day and post it. my rekindled love for shooting film, however, may mean that some posts are chock full of photos all at once. but every day, i think, will have one designated Photo Of The Day. we'll see. i still havent worked out the kinks in my plan. as for right now, i do believe i'm going to make myself an omlette. i want it to come out like this: it wont. ::sigh::
