in other news, happy tuesday. it appears as though a sickness is going around again; i feel like this often happens around pre-spring/springtime. the change in seasons does a special thing to the human body: destroys it. whoop whoop, i'm phlegmy. eeew.

i was supposed to study more for my history test last night, but i opted for rest and sleep instead. i guess i'll study double time, tonight. blaaaaarf (that's a "blah" into a "barf"). today i look forward to my happy hour date at Big Daddy's Diner with april and chastine; mind you, our "happy hour" consists of half-priced appetizers, sodas, sundaes, and shakes (from 3-6pm, Monday-Friday...we don't go every day, but i'm sure we've all thought about it, more than twice). 

 this has definitely become one of my "happy places" in NYC and one of the things i shall miss most when i leave NYC. i wish i could pack it up in my suitcase and bring it with me to share with my loves in Los Angeles. Swingers is good, but it's not the same.

yesterday was the South By So What?! show in Frisco, TX with...baaasically everyone i (we, chas and april as well) know. 
oh hello ::counts:: at least seven bands of brothers that i love and miss desperately every day of my life. i know you all had the most amazing time, ESPECIALLY celebrating joey's birthday. next up, the Artery Foundation Showcase at SXSW
ONE DAY, i won't be missing out on these events, but partaking, and being paid to do so. i.e. one of these days someone will give me a shot to do the job we all know i could do, and do really well. one of these days...until then, i'll just send good vibes to the people i love, and into the Universe, to keep us all happy, safe, and successful.

side note: why is Attack Attack! headlining over Alesana? just curious if anyone's ever listened to both bands before and like, i dunno, made a real legitimate comparison? maybe i'm biased (re: i'm entirely biased), but i think they should be switched. just sayiiin'.

ok i think i'm running out of moderately interesting things to say. stay tuned for next blog's episode of: "alex continues pretending that people pay attention to what she has to say and posts another blog of meaningless stuff that probably only she cares about." (it's sure to be a thriller)

courtesy of one of my bffs, miss chastine vosvick . when i saw it, it made my insides sparkle :) still think i'm getting sick, but going to work today doesn't seem too entirely oppressive as the rain leaves me with two options: stay inside and be utterly unproductive (well, i guess i could keep working on that study sheet for US history...) or stay inside at work and make some money. not the most glorious forecast, but i do look forward to the sunshine in my future.

This morning I received some awful, tragic, devastating news. My younger sister’s good friend suddenly passed away on Tuesday. He was 27-years-old. We’ve known Robert for years. He’s the younger brother of someone I was very good friends with in high school and part of my sister’s very tight knit crew. He had previously lived in NYC and recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in “the industry”. Prior to him moving to his new apartment in Santa Monica, he was staying on our couch while he looked for a place to live. He was an excellent house guest and always a pleasure to have around. I am so mad. I’m so goddamn angry about this. This isn’t supposed to happen, 27-year-old men aren’t supposed to just NOT WAKE UP. Julia wasn’t supposed to lose her younger brother when she’s got a son who needs an uncle. His parents aren’t meant to bury their 2 nd eldest child. New Moon, New Year, New Me (kinda)

Well it's been over two years since I wrote a full entry and sooo so very much has happened since then. So very much that I'm not even going to attempt to detail anything about it, but I will give a quick overview: between Feb 2018 and September 2018 ( just typed October because apparently I have no idea where I am in time anymore... ), I embarked on what I will ( begrudgingly ) call a "spiritual journey" ( oof, that sounds so cheesy ). In mid-to-late 2016, a shift started happening and I really started to dive into a pool I had previously only dipped a toe in ( crystals with Dad, practicing yoga, watching The Secret, astrology, chakras, whatnot ); I knew something was changing inside of me, it was necessary and an upgrade, and I really started "doing the work", as They say.
